My independent reading book is titled The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath. I chose this book because it has held my interest for some time now, but has only been sitting on my bookcase, and I have not read more than 10 pages of it at arbitrary times. There is an interesting history behind the book, that is somewhat 'dark' and has been reccomended to me by many poeple. The author, Sylvia Plath, studied at Smith college and was a poet, and I know that she killed herself by putting her head in an over so i was somewhat curious about that and to find out about her life and her writing and how she felt in general and possibly portrayed herself through her charecters. The genre is autobiographical, but we do not know that from sylvia- After she died we found out afterward.
